Years ago I wrote a song called Stardust Apocalypse and waited a long time to release it because it didn't feel right until now. In some ways the journey of *Legacy* began with the end.

I saw a cycle of destruction and rebirth so clearly in a dream, woke up, jotted it down on my apple notes and it stayed with me as I looked at myself and the world around trying to understand the generational patterns we are cycling, digesting, healing. As a mother I literally think every single day about this world and the legacy we are leaving behind for our kids.

This album is not lighthearted. It is also not dark and apocalyptic. Well, not entirely. It is honest, sometimes brutal, beautiful and layered in sound, lyric and messaging. It’s a reflection of patterns I see happening in the world that deserve a hard look at, with broken systems and fractures: in our leadership, in schools, in playgrounds, in parenting dynamics, in my own life, in the ways we have learned to hide parts of ourselves just to survive.

It was made across Los Angeles, Woodstock, Melbourne, and Berlin. On planes, trains, automobiles, juggling devices, meltdowns, laundry, and snacktime. Between moves, between crises, while raising a human and building a global nonprofit and trying to stay regulated in a world that kept getting louder. Every sound, layer, texture on this album deliberate and loved.
